The footie
What is the footie made of?
Our footie is 95% viscose from bamboo and 5% spandex. It's buttery-soft, breathable and has a gentle stretch.
Does the footie have a zipper or snaps?
It has a two-way zipper and no snaps. You can unzip from the bottom for a diaper change without the full undress. There are no buttons or interior tags either; the label is printed on.
What does convertible mean on this footie?
Convertible means the cuffs and feet fold over. The fold-over mitten cuffs cover tiny hands in the scratchy newborn weeks, and the fold-over feet turn it from a footie one month to an open cuff the next, so it grows with your baby.
How do I wash the footie?
Machine wash cold on gentle, inside out, with like colors. Then tumble dry low or lay it flat to dry. Skip bleach and fabric softener, and use a cool iron if needed.
How much does a footie cost?
Each footie is $34. Add any three footies to your cart and $10 comes off automatically, so three are $92 and ship free. The Whole Litter is one of each print in one size for the same $92.
Sizing
What sizes do you make?
We make five sizes: 0-3M, 3-6M, 6-12M, 12-18M and 18-24M. Our smallest size is 0-3M; we don't make a separate newborn or preemie size. Every print comes in every size, and our first run was 150 footies, 10 of each print in each size.
What size should I buy?
Choose the age size your baby is in today, because the footie is made to fit snugly rather than to be sized up. If you're not sure, email hello@loafandlittle.com and a real person will reply, usually within one business day. If the size doesn't work out, you have 30 days from delivery to exchange an unworn, unwashed footie with tags attached while your size is in stock, or get a full refund if it's sold out.
Can the footie be worn as pajamas, and how should it fit?
Yes, it can be worn as pajamas. It's a snug-fit garment, so it's meant to fit close to your baby's body rather than loose. Choose the size that fits snugly now instead of sizing up.
Shipping & returns
How much is shipping, and how fast will my order arrive?
US shipping is a flat $5.99 (free on The Whole Litter or any order of $92 or more, which is three footies), and orders ship within 1-2 business days. Once your order is with the carrier, most US addresses see delivery in 2-5 business days. You'll get a tracking number as soon as the label prints; the details are in our shipping policy.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Not yet; we ship within the United States only. That includes Alaska, Hawaii and PO boxes.
What is your return policy?
You have 30 days from the day your order arrives to start a return. Pieces need to be unworn, unwashed, free of smells and pet hair, with tags attached and in the original packaging. Email hello@loafandlittle.com with your order number to start, and once your return arrives and passes a quick check, we refund your original payment method within 5 business days. Return shipping is on you unless we made the mistake; the full details are in our refund policy.
Can I exchange for a different size?
Yes, if the size you need is still in stock, we'll exchange it, and if it's sold out, we'll refund you in full instead. The footie needs to be unworn, unwashed, free of smells and pet hair, with tags attached and in its original packaging, and you have 30 days from the day your order arrives to start. What if my footie arrives damaged or my package is lost?
We make it right with a replacement or a refund. If a footie arrives damaged, defective or not what you ordered, we cover return shipping and send a replacement or a full refund, your choice. If a package is lost in transit, we replace it if we still have your size, or refund you if we don't. Email hello@loafandlittle.com and we'll chase it with you; photos help us fix it fast.
The cats & the prints
Are the cats on the footies real?
Yes, every print stars one of our real cats: Sam, Lila or Hazel. We found Sam as a kitten on the side of the road in fall 2021, Lila came home in spring 2023 so Sam wouldn't be lonely, and Hazel waited more than a year at a rescue until we brought her home in summer 2024. Each print carries its cat's name: The Sam, The Lila and The Hazel.
How are the prints made?
Kaitlyn, our co-founder, designs every print at home, starting from a photograph of one of our real cats. She uses digital tools to turn that photo into watercolor art of our real cat. The Sam is sky blue with paw prints and the word MEOW, The Lila is warm taupe with polka dots, and The Hazel is dusty rose with hearts.
